Address verification by Pingen (since December 1st 2025)
To help you meet the requirements of POST Luxembourg, Pingen will check the recipient address for compliance with additional requirements from December 1st 2025 for letters to Luxembourg.
If Pingen detects that a document does not comply with the address requirements, it will receive the status "Action required" after upload. The "cover page feature" enables you to correct the recipient's address directly via Pingen. This feature automatically adds a new page in front of the document. This allows the address to be re-entered in compliance with the address requirements and placed on the cover page accordingly.
The following requirements will be reviewed in Pingen from December 1st 2025:
Prohibited content in the postcode line
In the address line with the postcode and the city, the postcode must appear before the city. In addition, there must be no characters (such as a comma or hyphen) between the postcode and the city. Both pieces of information must be separated by a space. Pingen checks whether the order is correct and whether there is a space after the postcode.
Please ensure that the line with the postcode only contains the postcode and the city and that they are separated by a space. For example, L-2998 LUXEMBOURG or 2998 Luxembourg (and not "L-2998, LUXEMBOURG" or "LUXEMBOURG L-2998").

Postcode does not have 4 digits
In Luxembourg, postcodes that are not 4-digit are considered invalid. If a recipient address has a postcode with fewer or more than 4 digits respectively no valid country designation, it will be rejected by Pingen. Pingen checks whether the last or second-last address line contains a 4-digit postcode.
Please ensure that the postcode is a continuous 4-digit number and (ideally) begins with the capital letter "L-" and a hyphen, or that international letters have a supportsupported countryed country name is stated on the last address line. For example, L-9874 REMICH or 9874 REMICH (and not "L-987 REMICH" or "L-9 874 REMICH" or "FR" or other information).

Unsupported ISO country code
The spelling LU-2998 Luxembourg (i.e. ISO2 country code before the postcode) has not been supported by POST Luxembourg for several years. For this reason, Pingen checks whether there is an ISO2 country code (such as "LU-") on the line with the postcode.
Please ensure that the country name is on the last line of the address and that the address line with the postcode does not contain a country name. For example, L-2998 LUXEMBOURG (and not "LU-2998 LUXEMBOURG").

City/town missing after postcode
POST Luxembourg requires that the city or town name appears immediately after the postal code. For this reason, Pingen checks whether the address line with the postal code also includes a city/town name (such as "LUXEMBOURG," "REMICH," etc.).
Please ensure that on the address line with the postal code also a city or town name is present. For example, L-9874 REMICH (and not "L-9874”).

Country designation on the postcode line
POST Luxembourg requires that the country name is the only content on the final address line. For this reason, Pingen checks whether there is a country designation (such as "LUXEMBOURG," "LUXEMBURG," "LËTZEBUERG") on the line with the postal code.
Please ensure that the country name is on the last address line and that the address line with the postcode does not have a country name. For example, L-L9874 REMICH or 9874 REMICH (and not " L-9874 REMICH, LUXEMBOURG" or " L-9874 REMICH (LUXEMBOURG)").

Country designation on the last address line
POST Luxembourg specifies that for local letters to Luxembourg, the country should not be stated in the address. Pingen checks, whether Luxembourg is stated as the destination country for local letters.
For Organisations with the default recipient country Luxembourg, please ensure that there is no country name (such as Luxembourg, Luxemburg or Lëtzebuerg) on the last address line.

Invalid address structure
When sending letters to Luxembourg, no empty lines (or lines without content) are allowed between the different address lines. Furthermore no address line may exist between the address line with the postcode/city and the address line with the country name. Pingen checks, wether any unsupported address line follows after the address line with the postcode/city.
Please ensure the address does not contain any empty lines, the address line with the postcode/city is only followed by the (optional) country name and the order of the address lines is correct. For example no information is between the (optional) country name and the address line with the postcode/city.

Distracting elements in the address area
POST Luxembourg specifies that only the postal address may be included in the address area. Pingen checks whether there is any additional information in the address area below the address.
Please ensure that no further details follow below the postal address and that there is no additional content in the address area.

Important:
For technical reasons, Pingen cannot carry out a complete verification of the requirements by POST Luxembourg. The address check by Pingen serves solely to help identify various problems before sending the letter. However, it is the sender's responsibility to ensure that letters sent to Luxembourg via Pingen comply with POST Luxembourg regulations. Any additional expenses due to incorrect addressing will be charged by Pingen.
